Management and staff at Aviation Ground Handling (AVGH) are celebrating following an announcement by the Australasian Aviation Ground Safety Council Inc (AAGSC) that they have won the 2011 Ground Safety Award.
The purpose of the AAGSC Ground Safety Award is to recognise an individual or team within an aviation organisation in the Australasian region who has made a significant contribution to aviation ground safety within their organisation or to the industry as a whole.
Aviation Ground Handling General Manager Richard Walters said the award win was just recognition for the dedicated team of staff.
“AVGH received the award for our efforts toward improving our manual handling awareness within the business.
“Our staff produced a practical and straightforward manual handling DVD directly targeting ground handling operations both airside and front of house.
“It shows ground handling staff performing their roles and highlights ways they can improve their techniques,” Mr Walters said.
The DVD also explains the risk associated with not following good manual handling techniques.
“This DVD now forms part of our induction process for all new staff, as well as ensuring existing staff have also been educated in regard to the correct techniques.
“AVGH’s success lies in our ability to deliver services that are efficient, safe and on time and we are thrilled to receive this award for our efforts,” Mr Walters said.
Aviation Ground Handling is a leading aircraft ground handling company operating in Australia with local operations at Gold Coast, Townsville, Sunshine Coast, Rockhampton and Mackay Airports.
